Adding-Uploading Resources

Adding / Uploading Resources (e.g. Files, Links, Recordings, Documents)

Community members can add resources to the resource library. Resources that can be added include standard file types (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.), video files, links, and other.  There are several ways to add a resource. They can be added one by one or as a group.

There are two ways to add resources to the resource library.

  1. Uploading an existing resource
  2. Creating a new resource

Uploading an existing document/resource

  1. Click Uploadto add existing files or folders from your computer.
  2. After selecting Upload, select files or folder.
  3. Select one or more files or folders from your computer, by using the SHIFT or the CTRL key.

Creating a new resource

The New option allows you to create a new resource in the document library.

Select Resources from the navigation menu at the top of the page.

Click New. A box will appear that lists resource types.

Choose the type of resource you will add to create a new item or file. New types of resources include: Folder, Word document, Excel workbook, PowerPoint presentation and Link.

If you select Word, Excel or PowerPoint you will be creating the document from scratch within the document library. Your new file is automatically saved to the document library and will appear in the list of files. During this process you will not be asked to name your file. Once saved, click Show more next to the document, and then click Rename.

When creating a link the user will be prompted to paste the hyperlink to an existing web page or file. Creating a link to an existing file in SharePoint helps to avoid having multiple copies of the same file exist in multiple libraries.
