Use of Cookies
The Healthcare Communities Web site use “cookies” to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.
One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you personalize Healthcare Communities pages, or register with Healthcare Communities site or services, a cookie helps Healthcare Communities to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as billing addresses, shipping addresses, and so on. When you return to the same Healthcare Communities Web site, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the Healthcare Communities features that you customized.
You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the Healthcare Communities services or Web sites you visit.
Security of your Personal Information
1) Encryption of Data in Transit
Data are an irreplaceable asset and encryption serves as the last and strongest line of defense in a multi-layered data security strategy. CSI collaboration portals are hosted in a highly secure cloud environment supported by Microsoft and exceeds all federal security requirements and provides the highest level of security currently available in the industry.
When your data are in transit, they are encrypted as they move between you and the data center, and between the server and the data center, which uses 2048-bit keys.
2) Encryption of Data at Rest
As noted above, the Microsoft Cloud platform hosting CSI collaboration portals uses some of the strongest, most secure encryption protocols in the industry to provide a barrier against unauthorized access to your data.
When data are at rest, two types of encryption are used: disk encryption and file encryption.
At the disk encryption level a BitLocker is used to secure data and on the file encryption level every file is secured with its own key that uses Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with 256-bit keys, which is a Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 compliant.
